Do I want a HMD: already have one
Notes:
Background: Danny was a normal 16 year old high school student, without any outstanding talents but with a happy outlook on life and perspectives for the future. That was 15 years ago, and everything changed only a few months later.
His parents, his whole family - everyone died in an attack. Monsters, aliens... it doesn't matter who did it. All that matters is that Danny was alone and his life literally crashed around him. He survived, but had no living relatives left, and friends left him one by one as he has fallen to despair.
Since that day, he just... existed, living a daily meaningless existence. He didn't really do anything with his life - his parents had money and insurance, but he squandered it all to live a meager life, without job, education or any hope for the future. But this too would all change one day.
Original canon background: in closed post
Personality: After the tragedy that took his family away, Danny lived a life of minimal interaction with the world around him. He mostly kept to himself and didn't have any friends or even casual acquintances except for people he absolutely had to deal with, such as clerks at stores he bought food in. Because of that he doesn't really know how to talk to people and comes off as awkward and uncomfortable in most social situations.
Being pretty much a parasite who lives off his dead parents' insurance despite being over 30, Danny feels horrible about himself. He struggled with depression for years, and doesn't have any self-esteem. For most of his life, he felt aimless, living a pointless daily existence and nothing more. Still, Danny has a basic sense of his own dignity, even if it's put down by lack of self confidence. He doesn't let other people push him around - he won't push back, but the only person who is his boss is himself.
Becoming a Fluxmetal seems to turn his life around - it's an incredible opportunity. Finally, Danny has not only a goal in his life, but also means to achieve it. It's a feeling of incredible elation, but also one you can easily become addicted to. He will gladly assume his Fluxmetal form at the slightest opportunity, and spring to action without thinking. It is a chance to be a hero, and even should he burn himself out in acts of reckless heroism, so be it - it is much better than the alternative, the pointless living of years before.
As a combatant, Danny's priority is preserving civilian life, fighting enemies second. He understands the feelings of hopelessness very well, and empathises with people who experience those feelings while giant robots battle it out around them and endanger them. His ability to sacrifice himself for others is almost martyr-like - but this is not because of his inherent nobility or other such lofty ideals. Rather, he considers himself of so little worth that throwing this life away to save others is a good trade for everyone involved.
He tries to hide it, but Danny has a soft side for cute things and small animals. Also after discovering how young a typical member of Unity Group is, he becomes rather self-conscious about his age and (lack of) achievements and tries to appear cool and mature, which conflicts with his affinity and lack of social graces.
Capabilities and Resources: Danny is a deadbeat with little skills and possessions to his name. He can however transform into a powerful Fluxmetal combat form. In order to perform the transformation, there has to be a lot of metal around him - at least several tonnes, which get used up during the process. He can turn back into a human form at will - the Fluxmetal form literally melts away, leaving behind a molten (but room temperature) pile.
Type: Combatant
Unit Name: Fluxmetal form (image)
Unit Description: Danny's combat form. For its small size, it is deceptively strong - it can shove and throw mobile suit sized foes around and crush metal with bare hands. It doesn't have any special attacks except for one:
Liquid Projectors - two launchers burst out from under the armor on forearms and shoot out a stream of liquid. Hitting metals causes them to melt or enter an explosive reaction. There is a limited amount of liquid that the form has available, though it very slowly regenerates over time.
This form is not Danny's actual body, his real body is hidden inside it. But while it's active he still feels it, so getting hit is painful, losing limbs even more so, etc. Also despite being metallic, the Fluxmetal form bleeds a passive (non-corrossive) version of the Liquid Projector fluid.
It doesn't regenerate, but each time Danny enters the form it's fully healed, because he uses new piles of metal to create it.
Size: S (6 meters tall)
Terrain compatibility:
Air: Yes
Ground: Yes
Water: Yes
Space: No
Favored terrain: Ground
Upgrades: None
Wingmen: None
Mission requirement: After the first mission
